PFAS Removal From Your Family’s Water With One Efficient System

Water all over the country has frequently been positive for lead, cysts, and PFOA/PFOS, and our area is not exempt. These chemicals have been found to exceed the levels set forth by health advisory organizations and may cause health problems.

Eighteen million Americans live in communities where the water systems are in violation of the law. As a matter of fact, the federal agency in charge of making sure those systems are safe not only know these issues exist, they’ve done little to stop them, according to information provided by CNN, which cites multiple sources and water experts.

Our goal is not to scare but educate our local community about water quality is a top priority. We’ve worked with many local families to improve their water and to provide peace-of-mind, knowing the water they drink and bathe in is free of harmful contaminants.

Contact us today to learn more about our professionally installed and serviced drinking water system that removes PFOS contaminants. Fill out the contact form or call (207)-350-7145!

What are PFAS, PFOA, PFOS and What’s The Difference Between Them?

In a nutshell, PFAS stands for per- and polyflouralkyl substances, which are synthetic chemicals used to make everyday products we all use (your cell phone, your non-stick pans, some food packaging, most things that used to be made at 3M are made of PFAS). PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid, also referred to as C8) and PFOS (perfluorooctane sulfonate) are simply two types of PFAS, and the difference between the two is the number of carbon atoms in the chain of polyflouralkyl. GenX is also considered a PFAS contaminant.

These chemicals have been around for almost 80 years when they started being manufactured in the 1940s. Unfortunately, a lot of chemical waste ends up being dumped in the water supply we drink from. Imagine 80 years of chemical waste contaminating the water we use every day.

The Water Quality Association (WQA.org) tells us exposure to PFAS can happen when we eat food grown in soil contaminated by PFAS or drink water that has been contaminated and not properly filtered out. It can also be released through the household products we use to clean our homes.

Some potential health risks of PFAS exposure are cancer, a weakened immune system, fertility issues, low birth weight for infants, abnormal levels for cholesterol and thyroid hormones, and inflammation of the liver. Other health-related issues are still under research.

How Can I Know I Have Safe Drinking Water?

If you want to know if the water in your area is affected by PFAS contamination, check out the EWG PFAS map below of known areas affected in the United States click here to see the map of known areas affected in the United States.

Our Solution:

PFOA and PFOS chemicals are bio-permanent, resistant to direct oxidation, and do not break down naturally in the environment or the human body. Coastal Water Treatment provides a unique system, to successfully remove these chemicals and is installed where the water line enters your home or business.

Our systems have been tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 58 by NSF International, and not only removes sediments and PFAS contaminants but also eliminates odors and improves taste – giving you bottled quality (or better) water right at your tap.

After moving into our home in Maine we discovered coliform... bacteria issues with our well water. I reached out to one of the bigger water treatment companies to shock our well. After they shocked our well they let me down and tried to oversell me on expensive systems I knew I didn't need. Out of frustration with the big name company and the continued expense of having to constantly purchase bottled water I reached out to Coastal Water Treatment by email one evening for a second opinion. To my surprise the very next morning I had a reply by email from Laurie and she called me shortly thereafter to setup a time to meet and discuss my needs. It is very rare these days to find a company that responds so quickly and so professionally. I was super impressed when Laurie arrived at my home and introduced herself and I found out she was the owner of the company. I shared my concerns about the undrinkable water due to coliform bacteria , stains in toilets from high manganese, calcium and iron content and the hardness of the water. Laurie made me me feel like a family member and assured me she only wanted to address and solve the water issues that I was dealing with. WOW NO MONEY GRAB HERE! Someone who actually cares about my issues and wants to put together a proposal to fit those specific needs. She emailed me a proposal the same day and we setup a time and date to install a water softener system, sediment filter and an under sink reverse osmosis water system for drinking water. On the day of installation she was right there alongside her plumber Dan to make sure everything went smoothly. Dan did an outstanding job installing all the systems. Laurie explained everything to me about what I could expect from the new systems and also gave me an extra sediment filter for the future filter change and 2 extra bags of salt. Since our install Laurie came back and tested our water and the results were amazing. The calcium, hardness, iron and manganese are now filtered out. The Coliform bacteria is completely absent. My wife and I are 100% satisfied with our new water treatment systems. Our drinking water is delicious, no more stains in toilets and my wife loves how the water softener makes her hair look and feel. Coastal Water Treatment is a David among Goliath Water Treatment companies that provides exceptional customer communication and value. Do yourself a favor skip the big name companies and give Coastal Water Treatment a try if you want value and customer service that exceeds all your expectations.read more

Quick, quality service with professionals who really knows... what they are doing! Appreciate when a vendor says don't fix what isn't broken yet instead of trying to upsell a full system. Informative and allowed us to ask questions and walked up through the process. Finished on time, on budget and the work is immaculate!read more
